By using these pages you agree to what is below. It is short, because the arrangement is simple: the pages are free, they are made carefully, and they come with no promises attached.

Who runs this

adelaidelive.app is made and run by Simon You, an individual in Adelaide, South Australia. It is a personal project, not a company, not a government service and not affiliated with any council, agency, retailer or festival. It is free, and there is no advertising on it.

The information is not official

Every page turns public data into a suggestion. The arithmetic in between is mine, and it can be wrong. Some specifics worth stating plainly:

• The beach and fishing pages score conditions from forecast weather and marine models. A forecast is not a measurement. Conditions at the water can differ sharply from a model, and a good score is not a statement that it is safe to swim, to fish, to take a boat out or to stand on rocks. For warnings and marine forecasts, use the Bureau of Meteorology; in an emergency, call 000.
• The bin page works out collection days from each council's own published calendars and zones. Councils change runs, shift days around public holidays and redraw zones. Your council's own page is the authority, and if the two disagree, believe your council.
• The metro page uses Adelaide Metro's published timetable and live vehicle feed. A live position can be stale or missing, and a listed departure is not a promise that a service will run.
• The fuel page shows prices reported to the South Australian fuel price scheme, and the final price it works out for you depends on discounts you tell it you have. A board price can change before you arrive and a discount may have conditions this page does not know. The price at the pump is the real one.
• The grid page reports electricity market data on a delay and is for interest, not for trading or for operating anything.

Data can also simply stop arriving. When a source is down a page will say so rather than invent numbers, but a page that looks normal can still be showing something out of date.

Your account

An account is optional and free. If you make one:

• Give a real email address you control, so a password reset can reach you.
• Keep your password to yourself. Anything done through your account is treated as done by you.
• One account is for one person. Do not share it and do not create accounts for other people.
• Tell me at the address below if you think someone else has got into it.

You can delete your account yourself at any time, from the bottom of the account page. See the privacy page for what that removes.

Fair use

Read the pages, use them, link to them, and take screenshots. Please do not:

• Hammer the site with automated requests, or scrape it in bulk. The data files behind each page are plain JSON on the same domain and are refreshed on a schedule; if you want the numbers for something of your own, fetch them politely and cache them, or write and ask.
• Try to break, overload or get into parts of the site that are not yours, including other people's accounts.
• Republish the pages as though they were yours, or present the output as official information.
• Use the site in a way that breaks a law, or that breaks the terms of the underlying data sources listed below.

Where the data comes from

The pages are a presentation layer over other people's work, and the credit belongs to them. Weather and marine forecasts from Open-Meteo, ultraviolet readings from ARPANSA, electricity market data from AEMO by way of OpenElectricity, timetables and live vehicle positions from Adelaide Metro, fuel prices from the South Australian Fuel Pricing Information Scheme, waste guidance from Which Bin SA, boundaries and collection zones from the individual councils and from data.sa.gov.au, and map data from OpenStreetMap contributors with tiles by OpenFreeMap.

Each source keeps its own licence and its own terms, and those terms travel with the data. Where a source requires attribution, it is given on the page that uses it.

Paid plans

There are none today. Every page and every feature is free, and accounts are on a plan called "free" because the code was written with a possible paid tier in mind. If a paid tier ever exists, it will add things rather than take away what is free today, and nothing will be charged without you choosing it and being told the price first.

What you can expect from the site

It runs on one small server, and it is maintained in my own time. There is no uptime promise, no support commitment and no guarantee that a page will still exist next year. Pages may change, break, or be taken down. If a page is retired I will try to say so on it rather than let it quietly go stale.

The site is provided as it is, without warranty of any kind, to the extent the law allows. Nothing in these terms tries to exclude a right you have under the Australian Consumer Law, which cannot be excluded. Where liability can be limited, it is limited to re-supplying the service, which for a free site means making the page work again.

To be direct about it: if you miss a bus, miss a bin, drive to the wrong petrol station or have a bad day at the beach because of something on this site, that is on you to check, not on me to compensate.

Ending it

You can stop using the site at any time and delete your account in one step. I can suspend or remove an account that is being used to attack the site or to harm other people, and will use the email address on it to say why, unless doing so would help whatever is going on.

Changes to these terms

These terms can change. The date at the top moves when they do, and a change that materially affects accounts will be sent to the email address on them. Continuing to use the site after a change means the new version applies.

Law

These terms are governed by the law of South Australia, Australia, and its courts.
